(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - An Iranian military commander says Iran's chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) for the next three years is indicative of the failure of US unilateral policies.
Commander of Iran's Basij Force Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi told reporters on Saturday that Iran’s chairmanship of the movement has challenged the US power.
He added that Iran's hosting of the 16th summit of the movement marked a big failure for the US, saying, “Washington better give up its irrational stances toward the Islamic Republic of Iran and stop its acts of sabotage.”
The 16th summit of the NAM member states will be held in the Iranian capital, Tehran on August 26-31.
The United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will also participate in the event during which the Islamic Republic will assume the rotating presidency of the movement for three years.
NAM, an international organization with 120 member states, is considered as not formally aligned with or against any major power bloc. It represents nearly two-thirds of the UN members.
